RN Charge Nurse Position – Full Time 7-3
HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy is seeking an RN charge nurse for our residential facility for medically fragile students with complex needs in order to provide optimal well-being and continuity of care. This is a 40 hour/week position that includes a shift obligation of 1 weekend every 4 weeks. This position will begin in September 2017.
Applicants must demonstrate the professional ability to manage and coordinate pediatric or adult health care in a health facility or school setting; facilitate a team approach; provide nursing care and interventions, delegate responsibilities and adhere to timelines, recognize and address problems; supervise and advise staff; and, oversee the development and implementation of student care plans.
Essential characteristics and required skills: leadership; quality clinical care provision; resourcefulness; good judgement, decision making; organized and effective planning, efficient methodology; action oriented; flexibility; effective communication, and computer competency with web or software based programs.
Two years of charge nurse experience is required. Pediatric experience is preferred. Pennsylvania RN license, CPR and PA DOH and DHS clearances are required for hire.
Assistant to the Director of Health Services:
Part Time 24 hours/week- 12 month position. Primary responsibilities include Staffing Coordination, Health InformationManagement and Payroll preparation.
Staffing Coordination responsibilities:Uses the scheduling system accurately to maintain master schedule and work schedules for the Health Services department; functions as the staff on-call contact person; coordinates coverage for call-outs; reviews vacation requests; tracks employee attendance, and brings instances of excess absenteeism to attention of department manager.
Information processing responsibilities: Maintains knowledge of HMS health information management related policies and procedures; ensure adherence to HIPPA and FERPA guidelines in Student Health Services; manages all health related material includingadmission forms, discharge forms and medical record thinning on a timely basis; ensures the Director is informed of all problems and/or discrepancies in charts in a timely manner; assists with auditing of the medical record; performs clerical duties as requested by the Director, i.e., faxing, phone calls, daily indexing scanning; routes correspondence, physician’s orders to physician for review and signature on a timely basis; able to navigate computer software and efficiently add data entry in EHR; communicates intelligibly and effectively via speech, telephone, written correspondence, and/or email; assists the Director to ensure confidentiality of protected health information; and, performs other duties as requested by the Director.
Payroll responsibilities: Prepares bi-weekly payroll for approximately 30 employees; compiles payroll data from time slips; ensures documentation compliance with company, local, state, and federal regulations; utilizes computer programs to verify time slips and process payroll; reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
Qualifications: Associates degree. Three years of increasingly responsible clerical/secretarial experience in a student services or health services environment. Previous experience working in a staffing/scheduling role, health information management and payroll management preferred. Knowledge and familiarity with medical terminology. Strong reading comprehension, verbal communication skills, computer, web research and data entry skills. Works independently with minimal supervision.
RNs and LPNs (part-time): 11 month position/Essential staff 7AM-3PM/3PM-to 11PM/11PM-7AM shifts
We are seeking RNs and LPNs for shift coverage in our residential facility to provide care for medically fragile students with complex needs. These positions will begin in September 2017.
Responsibilities include: RN applicants must demonstrate the professional ability to manage and coordinate pediatric or adult health care in a health facility or school setting; facilitate a team approach; provide nursing care and interventions, delegate responsibilities and adhere to timelines, recognize and address problems; supervise and advise staff; and, oversee the development and implementation of student care plans.
LPN applicants must demonstrate the professional ability to provide continuity of health care; participate in a team approach; provide direct nursing care including medication administration, treatments and interventions; and, implement student care plans.
Required Experience: Two years of facility or school care experience is required. Pediatric experience is preferred. Pennsylvania RN and LPN license, CPR required.
Equipment and Facilities Technician – Full-time
Seeking a full-time Equipment and Facilities Technician with at least 3 yrs experience.
Duties include electrical and maintenance such as changing ballasts and bulbs, wiring 120V, performing simple carpentry projects and providing routine maintenance and minor repairs on power and manual wheelchairs and other assistive equipment used by students with special needs.
Requirements: Facilities maintenance and wheelchair or small equipment repair experience preferred. Hand and power tool, and soldering experience required.
Must pay strong attention to detail, the ability to complete minor paperwork, and interact well with individuals at all levels of an organization, and outside contractors.
IT Support Technician – Full-time/12 month position
This position will work with the Network Administrator in supporting the entire HMS School computer network, work stations, hardware and software. Responsibilities include:
- Installing and performing minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment
- Setting up equipment for employee use, ensuring proper installation
- Maintaining record of daily data communication transactions
- Conferring with users to establish requirements for new systems or modifications
- Developing training materials and procedures, and providing training
- Modifying programs for internal needs
- Answering user inquiries regarding computer software and hardware operation
- Conducting office automation feasibility studies
- Inspecting equipment
- Troubleshooting hardware problems
- Referring hardware or software problems to vendors
Bachelors Degree in appropriate field preferred, but not required. 3 or more years appropriate experience in a school or non-profit field a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of Windows desktop and server, XP, Vista, Windows 7, 2000, 2003, 2008
- Familiarity with Active Directory, account and group creation and editing, Basic GPO settings
- Hardware experience, RAM, PCI, SCSI replacements/installs, Hard Drive swaps, rack mounting
- Experience with VPN clients and site to site
- Desktop App support experience with Office 365, AV clients, Browsers, Adobe
- Solid understanding of printer/file sharing and access permissions
- Experience with Managed Switches
Personal Care Assistant- Monday through Friday Day Shift/One Weekend a month
Duties include promoting and providing the highest quality physical and emotional care to HMS students, providing assistance to students by performing and facilitating tasks the students cannot do for themselves, while encouraging independence when appropriate. PCAs participate in classroom settings and during recreational activities.
Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 21 yrs old in accordance with Department of Public Welfare which regulates our residence. Experience working with children is a plus.
Wheelchair Mechanic/Part-time: We currently have need for an in-house mechanic who can make repairs to power and manual wheelchairs and other equipment for our students.
Experience with wheelchair repair experience is preferred but not necessary. But must have experience using hand and power tools, as well as soldering. Enjoy working with our friendly, professional staff. Since we are a school, you will enjoy summers off and some extended breaks during the school year.
