HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy Celebrates Chief Human Resources Officer Dialya “Dee” Blakeney as 2026 Diversity in Business Honoree

Philadelphia, PA — HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy is elated to announce that Chief Human Resources Officer Dialya “Dee” Blakeney has been selected as an honoree for the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2026 Diversity in Business Awards. This recognition celebrates individuals from diverse backgrounds who are making a significant impact on the business community through their professional accomplishments while championing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

“I am honored, grateful, and humbled to be recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal. Although I was named as the honoree, this recognition truly reflects the support and encouragement of my incredible HMS team, my family, and especially my mom, who always encouraged me to strive for excellence,” states Dee.

With more than 38 years of dedication to HMS School, Dee’s leadership has strengthened the organization’s workforce and its commitment to professional development. Over the last few years, under her guidance, the Human Resources team has supported staff and student growth. She helped to launch HMS School’s first fellowship program and expanded its internship program, strengthening the talent pipeline and reinforcing the organization’s long-term commitment to developing emerging professionals.

Theresa Newhard, HMS President and CEO, shares, “We are incredibly proud of Dee’s impact at HMS and beyond. She is a trusted partner to me and to so many others. In today’s rapidly changing workforce, a leader with 38 years of service is atypical; but a tenured leader like Dee, who can honor our history and culture with the need for continued evolution, is truly rare.”

Beyond her professional role, Dee is deeply engaged in her community through The Resurrection Center, her church in Delaware. The church supports the community through food assistance programs, scholarships, counseling services, and substance abuse support initiatives. Dee actively contributes through personal financial support and volunteering at special events, reflecting her dedication to service, compassion, and community care.

The 2026 Diversity in Business Awards ceremony will take place on March 19, 2026, from 4–6 p.m. at Philadelphia City Winery, with honorees highlighted in the Philadelphia Business Journal online and in print on March 20, 2026.

HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy congratulates Dee on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates her ongoing impact both within the organization and throughout the community.
