HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy is excited to share that our Certified Art Teacher, Paige Knowles, will receive the 34th Annual Brighter Futures Award in Cultural Arts through the My City, My Place initiative. We are thrilled to celebrate Paige along with this year’s fellow honorees, whose work is making a meaningful impact across the disability community.

In her role at HMS, Paige creates opportunities for students to explore creative expression while also helping connect the broader community to arts and culture. Her work reflects a strong commitment to ensuring that everyone has access to meaningful artistic experiences.

The Brighter Futures Awards recognize individuals from all walks of life, including neighbors, educators, families, professionals, and self-advocates who value the abilities of people with differences and actively support them in reaching their goals.

At HMS School, the arts program offers accessible, hands-on creative experiences where students explore a variety of materials and bring their ideas to life. With adaptive tools and sensory-rich approaches, every student can participate fully while developing skills such as communication, problem-solving, and self-expression.

In addition, HMS School will host its annual Art Showcase from April 27th through May 8th, providing families and staff with the opportunity to view student artwork created throughout the school year. The showcase serves as a meaningful lead-in to the awards ceremony, highlighting the creativity and growth of HMS students.

Event Information:

This year’s Awards Ceremony, which includes a resource fair and workshops, will take place on May 15th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Market Ballroom at Philadelphia Live! Hotel and Casino.
