HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy is excited to announce that Summer Camp 2026 is officially underway from July 6th – July 10th, continuing its tradition of creating meaningful, engaging, and enriching summer experiences for students.

This year’s program carries special significance thanks to the generous support of the Baus Family, whose donation has supported enhanced camp activities. In addition to supporting HMS and the broader summer camp experience, the family’s gift honors the memory of Christian Baus, an alumnus of HMS School (class of 2010), and his mother, Maryanne.

Both Christian and Maryanne shared a deep love of music. Christian was an avid listener, and Maryanne was known for her joy of dance. In recognition of their lives and lasting connection to the HMS community, this year’s camp will feature dedicated music programming designed to foster joy, reflection, and connection among students.

Summer Camp at HMS is a thoughtfully curated program developed by the school’s recreational therapy team. Each day is built around an engaging theme with this year’s Adventure Camp featuring a visit to Jurassic Park, becoming deep sea divers, exploring the earth as tree huggers, then taking a trip to the moon to be star gazers. This creative programming follows the Assessment, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation, and Documentation (APIED) process, focusing on individualized goals and tailored activities to foster physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being for every camper.

Camp programs are structured, activity-based interventions led by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) and designed to build confidence, independence, and social skills in an inclusive environment. During camp sessions, students will work on the development and maintenance of motor function, social skills, resilience, confidence, sense of self, communication skills, coping skills, autonomy, and increasing independence.

As part of this year’s music-focused programming, HMS is honored to welcome Julius from Philly Talking Drums. More information about Philly Talking Drums and its programming can be found here.

HMS School extends its sincere gratitude to the Baus Family for their continued generosity and support of this year’s Recreational Therapy Summer Camp 2026, which helps ensure that students experience a vibrant, inclusive, and memorable summer.
