HMS School Welcomes Students Back for the 2025-2026 Academic Year

Philadelphia, PA — September 8, 2025 — HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy is thrilled to announce the start of the 2025-2026 academic year on September 8th with busses arriving at 8:45 AM. We are especially excited to welcome three new students and families to the HMS Community. As the school buses arrived, loud cheers and smiles from our HMS Welcoming Committee greeted each of our students as they returned to school.

This year, HMS School is stronger than ever as we reaffirm our commitment to providing exceptional, individualized education and therapies tailored to the unique needs of our students. While shifts at the Federal Department of Education create uncertainty for schools serving students with complex needs, HMS stands firm in its mission and ensures families it is “Here to Stay” – something we will excitedly celebrate during the 4th Annual Community Day on October 5th.

Theresa Newhard, HMS School’s President shares, “I have been waiting with anticipation for my first “start of school” here since I started eight months ago, hearing staff describe the joy of our staff seeing our students after summer break, the zest of the season changing, and the energy that fills the school as fall activities kick into gear.” Theresa wants to remind the HMS Community of her open door policy, “Whether it is your 1st year with us, your 40th year with us, or you are brand new to HMS, I want you to know that you are welcome here – and we want to hear from you over the months ahead.”

“Happy First Day! I am so excited to welcome all our students and staff back today for an exciting year ahead!” said Theresa Tocco, Vice President of Education of HMS School. “Let’s make this year full of learning, growth, and unforgettable memories. Here’s to a great start to the 2025-26 school year.”
