Special Education Teacher (FT)

Responsibilities and requirements include:

  • Determining and providing appropriate education intervention for each student in the classroom using appropriate diagnostic techniques, interpreting relevant data form a variety of sources. 
  • Developing and  implementing the education portion of each student’s IEP. 
  • Structuring individual and group classroom activities 
  • Writing clear, meaningful weekly lesson plans 
  • Communicating and collaborating with others on student teams, including parents 
  • Optimizing the classroom environment and resources by overseeing Teacher Assistants and others in the classroom 
  • Setting the tone of the classroom with positive enthusiasm 
  • Contributing to the overall success and improvement of the Education Department and school 
  • Participating as a contributing member of HMS School staff in organization-wide projects 

REQUIREMENTS 

BS in Special Education; Current PDE Certification in Special Education, Current Act 48 requirements, must have at least 3 years experience in a Special Education setting.
