Our Vision for Impact

Founded in 1882, HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy provides care, access, opportunity, and belonging to children and
young adults with multiple disabilities resulting from cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, or other neurological conditions.
As we reach our 150th anniversary in 2032, we remain committed to providing our students with a high-quality, individualized
academic and transdisciplinary school experience that redefines what’s possible.

The magic of HMS lies in the extraordinary capabilities, joy, and resilience of our students. As a team we pledge to see, know,
understand, and empower each and every individual. We champion their individuality. We relentlessly support them as they find
their authentic voice, honoring all modes of communication. And we work collaboratively to provide students with pathways
toward academic growth, personal development, and independence.

Grounded in our values of respect, integrity, open communication, teamwork, and belonging, we commit to:

• Cultivating staff engagement by ensuring transparency, equity, and meaningful professional growth opportunities
throughout the organization

• Establishing educational and therapeutic models that maximize individual outcomes

• Growing mindfully and intentionally—without compromising individualized learning experiences

• Implementing systems and processes that foster strong workflow, collaboration, accountability, and trust

• Re-designing our campus to improve access, adaptability, and sustainability

• Strengthening family support through robust transition services, community engagement, and partnerships with adult providers
