I felt it appropriate to reach out to you and let you know that HMS stands with our families, students and staff of color particularly during this incredibly painful and difficult time.
We share their demands for equality and justice and recognize that both require our undivided attention and commitment not only today, but every day, week, month and year. Part of our mission as educators is taking the necessary time to listen and learn as we build each other up and support our students and their families. We spend a significant amount of time doing our best to help our students understand their world, but sadly there are events in life that defy description and understanding. Yet, we know we must carry on together, remain empathetic without regard to ethnicity, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation and serve as a guiding light as an agent for good for everyone in our community.
