Meet Our Team: Taylor Ecker

It’s Physical Therapist Month! Our crack team of physical therapists at HMS work hard everyday to get us up and moving. In honor of physical therapy month we caught up with our newest physical therapist here at HMS, Taylor!

Where did you grow up, where are you from?

I grew up in South Jersey, where I still currently live!

What made you want to get into PT?

Growing up I always loved science and was always interested in learning about how the human body works. After experiencing PT myself after an injury, I thought it would be the perfect active career with something different everyday while helping others. It combined my love of science and staying active!

What drew you to HMS?

I was lucky enough to do my second clinical rotation for PT school at HMS last winter/spring. The first two weeks of my internship happened to be virtual, and I knew from the first zoom session that I was going to love it here! Once in person, I wasn’t disappointed. The students at HMS taught me so much as well as always brought a smile to my face. All of the staff were so helpful and it was clear they wanted to help me learn and grow as a PT. Even now, I have received amazing mentorship from everyone in the PT department. I am so happy to be here helping our students as well as families!

What do you think is the best part of PT?

The best part of PT is therapy through play. The students here have brought out my creative side and challenged me every day to discover new ways to engage them in different activities. PT keeps me on my toes, and it truly is something new every day!

Tell us a little about yourself!

As for me, I am someone with a bunch of random little hobbies! I love cooking, crafting, traveling and trying new things. I went to James Madison University for my undergraduate degree in Health Science and Medical Humanities. Afterwards, I came back to New Jersey to commute to Drexel University for PT school!

We hope you’ll join us in welcoming Taylor to HMS!
