The IEP

IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings reflect the HMS team-based process, working toward the consensus of staff, parents, the student—when able, school-district representatives and, for some students, community service providers.

Each student’s IEP goals emerge through an informal discussion that honors every participant’s input. Together we develop IEP goals that are meaningful, objective, observable and measurable. A living document, the IEP drives our work, including all techniques, supports and equipment that enhance the student’s engagement and success. Quarterly report cards present the student’s progress toward IEP goals.

Follow-up IEP meetings adhere to the same interactive team-based model. Between IEP meetings the student’s team continually tweak and refine information and ideas, maximizing the student’s progress.
